I just caught the introduction to the @trthaber bulletin. It’s almost comic with it’s young elegant black-slacks/ jet-black hair/bright pink top with no exposed elbows lady, a big passenger ✈️ dominating the colourful set behind her.. We then turn to the most devastating video reports of #Ukraine you wil see on any television news.

And then we get down to it: #Putin shakes hands with Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. What’s next, a report from Afghanistan of the Taliban keeping women and girls in their rightful place?

My point is that we all know so much of what is wrong with paid journalism. Billions of us are in fact suffering depersonalising loss and distress which are only fuelled by the demeaning engineered ethno-tribal #showbiz misrepresentation, dumbing and objectifying all, which is the monstrously delusional stock-in-trade of the global news machine. As I said at the outset here we all know the downside of corrupted journalism many of us so well it truly makes us sick.

So our challenge has to be to ask and answer the question What is effective, contributory, humanised, socially and politically functional journalism?

And here is a starting point, at least one that struck me before I set out to write this article half an hour ago: decent conduct in the public domain, material which grows out of a personal and lifelong commitment to research disciplines and practice..

You know where that goes is to a life of learning and personal emotional growth? Joie de vivre indeed. AND, wait for it: I am/ you are quite possibly Australian: tjukkurpa{1}, If we are lucky & ‘blessed’ enough to know and experience it. In what is in fact the real – not the socially constructed 1970 undergraduate #Functionalist woke/ bespoke/ tribalised identity politics/ virtual relations #Sociology nether-world – there are no talking heads, scripts, slogans, or urgings of contempt, hatred, self-hatred, violation, rape or murderous dismemberment.
